Who Am I?
I’m Jenny Casson, a two-time Olympian and world record holder who has carried the lessons of sport into entrepreneurship and community building.
I was born and raised in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, and grew up playing every sport I could, soccer, badminton, track, and everything in between. At 17, I developed stress fractures that ended my running career. Searching for a new outlet for my competitive drive, I followed my brother to the Kingston Rowing Club. The early mornings didn’t come naturally at first, but within a few months, I was hooked. With the right coaches and a supportive environment, I earned a scholarship for heavyweight rowing at the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma (Reign Cane!), where I also completed my undergraduate degree in exercise and sport science.
After graduation, I moved to Victoria, B.C., which quickly became home as I embarked on a nine-year journey representing Canada on the world stage. During that time, I competed in two Olympic Games (Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024), five World Rowing Championships, and numerous World Cups, with multiple A-final appearances. Along the way, I also set lightweight world records on the 2k and 6k ergometer tests. Rowing has taken me all over the world, introduced me to incredible people, and taught me lessons in resilience, teamwork, and the belief that obstacles can always be transformed into opportunities.
After the Paris 2024 Olympics, I stepped back from rowing to explore what I could build off the water. I co-founded Daylilie Apparel Inc. with my co-founder, Manuella Widjaja, to reimagine the bra industry for women with broad shoulders, like us.
We design products that prioritize fit, comfort, and confidence for bodies that don’t always fit traditional moulds. Our mission is simple: no woman should ever have to compromise feeling strong and supported.
What Is Next?
While my chapter in rowing is on hold, my drive to compete at the highest level still fuels me, and triathlon offers the perfect stage to push my limits in a new way. I’m channelling my Olympic mindset into a new arena: long-course triathlon. Working with a coach and partners, I am excited to see how far I can take this new sport!
At the same time, I’ve begun a professional path in human-centred consulting and leadership coaching with Phoenix Executive. Alongside a team of tenured experts from diverse sectors, I help individuals and organizations unlock purpose, resilience, and performance in high-pressure environments, bringing the best of my Olympic experience to leadership development.
Community remains at the heart of everything I do. From mentoring young athletes to working with C-suite executives on mindset, leadership, and purpose, my focus is on helping people stay connected to their “why.” As a champion with EcoAthletes and through my work with Allison Forsyth and Generation Safe, I strive to give back and ensure the next generation can move forward without the barriers I once faced.
What’s next for me is simple: to keep building where passion meets purpose—whether through sport, entrepreneurship, or coaching—shaping businesses, teams, and communities that reflect equity, innovation, and impact.
